Please read this before relying on PDFDroid for important, legal, financial, medical or archival documents.
General accuracy
PDFDroid's tools are provided for general productivity use and are offered "as is", without warranty of any kind. While we test each tool, output quality can vary depending on your source file, browser and device. Always open and check the result before sending, filing or relying on it — especially for anything with legal, financial or regulatory consequences.
Best-effort conversions
Tools that convert between very different formats — Word, Excel, HTML, and PDF/PDF-to-Word/PDF-to-Excel — use the browser's own layout engine to approximate the original design. Simple documents convert cleanly; documents with complex layouts, nested tables, custom fonts, macros or embedded objects may shift, simplify, or lose some formatting. These tools are clearly labelled "best-effort" on their own pages.
OCR, text extraction & comparison
OCR PDF uses automated text recognition, which is highly accurate on clean, typed text but less reliable on handwriting, low-resolution scans, or unusual fonts — always verify recognized text before treating it as authoritative. Compare PDF highlights differences in extracted text only; it does not detect purely visual or layout-only changes.
Security-related tools
Unlock PDF only removes protection when you supply the correct password yourself — it does not crack or bypass unknown passwords, and its output is a flattened copy rather than the original vector file. Redact PDF permanently flattens the page so redacted content cannot be recovered from the file we hand back to you — but you are responsible for reviewing every redaction before sharing a sensitive document. Sign PDF creates a visual signature (similar to signing a printed page); it is not a certificate-based digital signature and may not satisfy every jurisdiction's legal requirements for e-signatures.
Third-party libraries
PDFDroid's tools are built on open-source libraries (including pdf-lib, pdf.js and Tesseract.js) loaded from a public CDN. We do not control these libraries' internals and cannot guarantee they are defect-free.
No liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDFDroid and its operators are not liable for any loss, damage or inconvenience arising from the use of, or inability to use, these tools, including data loss, inaccurate conversions, or missed deadlines. Keep a backup of any original file before processing it.
